Brian Otis is the Vice President of Sales and Business Development in the US at Optaros and has over 20 years of technology leadership experience in the software and consulting industries.
Previously, Mr. Otis was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Field Operations at Sonic Software. In this role he was responsible for worldwide sales and all international operations. Earlier at Sonic he was the Managing Director, EMEA based in the UK, where he was responsible for Sonic's sales, marketing and professional services organizations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to joining Sonic Mr. Otis was the Head of Technology Directions and Standards at Swiss Re, where he monitored and investigated new technologies and market trends in an effort to create multiyear technology plans, identify opportunities for Swiss Re business groups and advise Swiss Re investment entities.
Prior to Swiss Re Mr. Otis was the President and COO of Object Design, a $50M data management division of eXcelon Corporation. eXcelon Corporation is a leader data management solutions for high performance applications using XML and Java. Through his eight years at eXcelon he also served as Senior Vice President of Operations, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Support and Vice President of Professional Services. During his tenure he played a key role on the management team that guided eXcelon from $8M in annual revenue to over $70M.
Previously, Mr. Otis was a Managing Associate with the Advanced Technology Group in the Coopers & Lybrand Management Consulting Organization where he was responsible for growing and managing consulting practices in the areas of system development, business process simulation and business process reengineering. In a previous, research focused life, Mr. Otis was on the research staff in the Machine Intelligence Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory where he led teams working on decision support systems and simulation systems in the areas of network management and network fault isolation. In addition, he spent two years on the research staff at the Marine Systems Engineering Laboratory at the University of New Hampshire where developed autonomous underwater vehicle guidance systems.
Mr. Otis has published several papers in the areas of decision support systems in the insurance industry, knowledge representation, knowledge-based data assessment, and the use of decision support systems in the maintenance and management of communication networks.
Mr. Otis has a B.S. in Geology, an M.S. in Computer Science and an M.B.A. with a concentration in international business.
